Hagar's Well's first scholarship recipient
I’ve dedicated a lot of time the last few months to clearly define my values and align all aspects of my life with them. One of the things that came from that was creating a non-profit that would tie my values in and out of work that would be a tangible way of “put your money where your mouth is” Don’t just say this is important to me – Do something bold about it.
I don’t think it’s coincidence, the same week I formalized plans, I got an email from Washington Apple Education Foundation (an organization I love and have volunteered with for a few years) highlighting students facing financial gaps.
One of Hagar’s Well core principles is ‘We Invest in Her Future’.
Studies shows the majority of women who earn college degrees or reach financial stability reinvest in their communities in ways that raise up those around them.
Our first scholarship recipient is Alejandra and she epitomizes the mission behind the Strong Women, Stronger Communities Fellowship. As a first-generation college student studying psychology, she dreams of becoming a therapist or school counselor in an underserved community.
Today I was able to meet her for the first time, celebrating her and all the scholarship recipients. A cup filling, best day, so thankful to God kind of day.
❤️ Together We Grow.
"Alejandra is a first-generation college student from the agricultural community in Central Washington. She’s pursuing studies in Psychology and maintains a 3.5 GPA. Through her career in psychology, she hopes to make mental health resources more accessible for underserved communities."
